I'm so looking forward to our 30th reunion.  I learned about it from a dear classmate when I was ushering at School of Rock.  I'm off Facebook since I do in home health care and need to keep a low profile on social media.  I do want to share I was filmed for the ALS Gala and fundraising apparently the video was replayed on Facebook during Give to the Max Day.  It can be seen on YouTube: ALS Respite Care.  It was a thrill to hear my name being read by Cathy Wurzer.

As we will be soon be turning 50 it would be fun to gather again in an informal gathering in a couple years.

I stopped by Hopkins High this spring and talked to students who were outside near the memorial tree they liked the dedication.

I didn\'t attend Hopkins HS, but was dating a girl from there I met while cruising the old Hopkins Main Street (Excelsior Blvd).  Consequently I recorded your Class of \'88 Graduation ceremony off of the local Cable Access TV, in Beta.  I have since transferred that recording to my computer HD, and can make DVD\'s from it.  This means that anyone who would like a copy of their HS Graduation can now have it on DVD!  I hope this doesn\'t flood me with a ton of request though....

Hey guys,
If anyone has lost their yearbooks and would like yearbooks from Katherine Curren 1982 (1) book, West Jr High 1982-1985 (3) books, and Hopkins High School 1985-1988 (3) books. email me, they\'re free but the only kicker is that they are signed.  I was going to  donate them to the Hopkins Historical Society but thought maybe a classmate would like them more. Let me know, take care, Keith  Romans 11@localnet.com

The first snow was flying in Minneapolis today and a hot, humid reunion seemed like it was only a week ago.
It reminds us of how time flies and how vital it is to acknowledge that which is important. Namely a reunion of 20 years.
My email in-box has been full since the reunion from old and new friends again.  I still get comments from many of you on the success of the reunion. Despite a computer/name-tag snafu, we puled off a grand event with only 4 months planning and a shoestring budget.
If you feel inclined, please give thanks to a few of your fellow classmates who put in enough work to qualify for a part time job.  Eric Raarup, Maria Walerius-Cleveland, Brad Kaplan & Dedra Woodward. There are also thanks due to all of you who helped with phone marathons, hours of volunteering & research to help find all 644 of us.
With a few extra monies in the budget, the reunion committee was able to pay all expenses incurred for the reunion. We were also able to plant a new memorial tree on the HHS campus  to remember our classmates from 1988, who are no longer with us. We are the only class from HHS to have ever done such a memorial. We were also able to host our website for another five years.
See you all in 2013!

WOW! The pictures of Homecoming & the tree dedication are great. It just makes me even more sad that I missed it & missed time spent with old friends. I am really glad that someone was able to get all of this together, it says something about not only our class, but about us as people. I know that I think about fallen classmates from time to time & probably always will.
THANK YOU!!

Video was taken of the tree dedication a nice plaque was made and read: This tree is a living memory of all those who graced these halls.  As in youth we grew together, let this tree and its branches that spring forth, remind us of our classmates who have passed on before us.  May they be cherished in our memories forever.  Hopkins Class of 1988

I do not know who composed that how beautifully put.

I took pictures inside the school for those who have not been inside for awhile.  And of those who stayed for the game.  There was a couple of kids who were arrested before they were able to streak, although one kid completed his mission.  Sorry no pictures were taken.  A good thing the fence post had no barriers.

I must say it was great to see the school spirit from all grade levels there were all ages there.  As much as our beloved Metzold field I think having a football field on campus is a good thing.

They now at half time have a hip hop dance group.  How wonderful to have anyone able to join, the male dancer took center stage.

It would be neat to make it an annual alumni tradition.

I am sorry that I was unable to join everyone for  homecoming & the tree dedication, but My Bach. party was Sat. & my fiance's bridal shower was Sunday so we had a house full of out of town guests. I look forward to hearing about the evening & am going to get over to the school soon to see it. Thank you again to all who have been setting these events up.

Hello all !!  I'm looking forward to seeing many people tonight that weren't able to make it to the reunion in July.  Dave & Busters is 1 option... that direction (North) isn't real convenient for some of us that live south of the school.  Other options like Maynards, Scoreboard, dwntwn Hopkins bars etc... might work better for others.  Some of us that have been blessed w/ overnight babysitters might be able to hop around from one to another??  Please post ideas so that we can try to see as many people as possible.

Last night I was flipping channels, there was nothing on TV and I was burned out on the Olympics, so I ended up on HBO.  Mallrats was playing and I ended up watching it as it was filmed at the old Eden Prairie Mall...
I got to the end of the movie and saw someone that looked exactly like someone we know.  Randy Buendorf, or what looked exactly like Randy was sitting in the front row of the audience.  If it wasn't you Randy I don't know how they duplicated your dimples on a look alike.  :)

I heard what a great time the reunion was!  Sorry I had to miss it but I will be there for the next one (25 or 30).  The pictures and video brings back good memories of a great time of our lives.  Looking back knowing what I know now....well nevermind!

Thanks to those that called me during the reunion (Steph and Kerstin too).

What an incredible night! Exciting, yet overwhelming for both Manuela and myself. I would say that I've only seen roughly 2% of our fellow classmates outside of our graduation ~ making twenty years seem like an eternity. Needless to say, I felt at ease and truly enjoyed the time shared on that Saturday night (I believe I was in Albania during the ten year reunion in yet another conflict). Thank you for taking the time to share your greetings and well-wishings to us both! Continue to support the website with updated information and photos - thanks again Eric for your continued support and upgrades of this valuable site!

My return to Iraq was an emotional escapade ~ always treasure your time with family and friends, and never take that time for granted. You would think that "good-byes" would get easier after so many are given ~ it is definitely the opposite! I left Killeen, Texas on the 5th of August and slept in my own bunk back at FOB Caldwell by the 8th of August, after virtually no quality sleep over that 72 hour span. With under six months until our return and the completion of this current deployment, I ask that all of you keep us in your thoughts and prayers for a safe return, and an end to this and other conflicts going on throughout our tender world.

Just a couple of shout-outs ~ thank you Ted and the whole committee for a wonderful night. Your hard work did not go unnoticed! Lucinda, my dear, thank you for your consideration and generosity; Manuela and I are truly thankful. For Amy (Chapman) and Natalie (Ojeda), without the both of you, my travels to the Calhoun Beach Club would not be minimized by a couple of minutes (what a wicked shout-cut), and breaking the law through an illegal u-turn brought out the rebel in all of us. Julie and Brian Setzer, thank you for attending this special night with you ever-demanding schedule (I'm still kicking myself in the rear for not asking "The Stray Cat Guy" for his autograph - I even have Mr. Rogers autograph for Christ's sake)...and Julie, if you are reading this. I need your help on this one! Jim Sexton and the Sandwiches ~ thank you for an incredible prelude ~ Friday night was a blast (the chicken singing "Creep" by Radiohead made my night! Krista ~ thank you for not bringing your husband (I had you all to myself - JK)! Karyn and Natalie (to include Krista) ~ true friends truely never fade away ~ I love all of you to pieces!  Todd and Troy Finn ~ thank you for not beating me up (actually had a very nice conversation with both of them ~ just don't pass it around ~ might tarnish the rep!).  And finally, for those that were unable to attend ~ you missed a wonderful opportunity to reunite with "our" yesteryear and to invest in "our" future. The "our", of course, is the "Class of 1988".

My sincere thanks to everyone involved with thuis memorable evening ~ I'm looking forward to our next event.  Take care of yourselves and stay safe!

Hey All,

I just took a tour of the new and improved Hopkins High.  What a trip back in time. It was a treat to see what has taken place in the building.  The business/art wing has been extended and a new auditorium has been build off what was the office area by the old main entry.  I walked into what was the mall and swear I saw a flying tennis ball. I ducked.  The mall has been converted into the admin offices.  Off the back of the school is the new Lindberg center.  If you want to see it for yourself, the new main entry is open M-F.  Just go to the new offices in the mall to anounce your presents.  The staff was nice and welcomed my visit.

WOW....has time fly by.  It was SUPER GREAT to see everyone......everyone looks the same, just a little older...lol.  Ted, want to thank you and your committee group for putting on a great reunion.  There was so many people to talk to and so little time.  I have to keep an eye on the website for "homecoming event thing".

I THINK IT WOULD BE GREAT TO KEEP THIS WEBSITE GOING FOREVER, IF IT MEANS THAT PEOPLE HAVE TO DONATE TO KEEP IT UP, IT'S A GREAT PLACE TO CHECK OUT AND SEE EVERYONE.  SO WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK ABOUT THAT IDEA ??

I have downloaded the pics I took at the reunion in the Reunion 2 book.

Hey Ted or anyone in the reunion commitee, I would be interested in helping with future reunions, just email me :o)

Homecoming sounds like a wonderful event to reconnect with one another again!! A more casual, down-to-earth setting will be nice. Less pressure in figuring out what the heck to wear! Joel Evans... I KNOW that you can find shoes to match that dress by then!! If you need help just call me!!! I LOVE shoes and would be more than happy to assist you with your quest for the "perfect" match. I agree wholeheartedly with Joel about not having participated in much during our highschool years... and how the reunion put a different spin on things. I look forward to running into everyone in the future!!

I know if it was not for the committe, the reunion would not have happend or not been as grand of an event.  So, Thank you for your time, energy, and fiscal input to the cause.  I must say I had as many happy tears as laughs, so I own that to all of you.  It was wonderful to see evweyone stay away from the old circles and open up to all individuals.  I myself was not much of a student or participant in extra activities in school, so I felt left out as I needed to work a lot back then.  This meeting of the minds has brought forth a positive spin on my school years and will continue.  I will work hard to become closer to all that are willing.  Life is short and it is time to start living.  Thank you my friends for the second chance.

I just have to say two things. Well maybe three. The first is, everybody looked fantastic. What was very cool and a bit strange was that I recognized so many people without even seeing name tags. Second, I am kicking myself for not attending the event. I was with my kids the past two weeks and could not find anyone to babysit for them. Lastly, I see some entries below of people interested in getting together sooner than later. Someone said next year which would be much better than waiting another five. And I believe the suggestion for even Homecoming would be most awesome! If anyone is up for this, you can contact me at my home email or facebook! Again, great job to the planning committee (looked amazing) and hello to all who attended and hope we can get together soon! Paul Rockswold

Joel, you have me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. I have to say I was slightly disappointed in the fact you weren't wearing the dress you had spoke of earlier. Were you not able to find matching shoes? I would like to thank all those responsible for setting up the event and everyone in attendance. I had a wonderful evening. It's amazing how something like this can cut through all the years of grinding away - the day to day grayness and let a little sun and color back in where you hadn't even realized it was missing. Not to say I haven't led a happy life but just as they say it can always be worse, I believe it can always be better. Anyway, thank you all for a fabulous evening. To all the old friends I reconnected with, please, lets stay in touch. To all the new friends, I look forward to knowing you better. Evans, don't give up, those shoes are out there somewhere!!  ;)

Peace!

Just to let you know Brad Kaplan has been the master of the database list and updating it.  Brian and Kim Wilson, Karen Hintermeyer helped find people too.

I hope people keep updating there sites with new pictures and information.  I hope my sister Linnea (1987) will let me post photos of her boys Brenden 8 and Cam 5.  When they are in high school I will be cheering for the Orioles they love to play hockey.  Their Dad (Tim Donahue) is the head hockey coach for St. Louis Park.  His first year as coach for SLP they went to State for the first time in about 40 years.

Tim was right about 20th reunions people go back to before they were teenagers good decent selves.  I was happy to see and experience that.

Thank you to all who traveled great distance to be there. It's been a long time since we have most of each other but so many memories came flooding back as most of us spent so much time together while we grew up. I am so happy so many were able to come.  The time flew by and there were so many I wish I would have been able to talk with.

I think Chad Ault should get grand prize for have traveled the furthest, and his wife Manuela for sharing Chad on his leave, unfortunately he will have another tour in Iraq.
I want to keep all of our classmates who are serving in the armed forces to keep out of harm's way, and come home soon.  (I got a hold of Mr. Lauder English teacher at NJH and he wrote back to "Duck and Cover" he was a nurse in the Vietnam War and was not going to cut his hair until the Vietnam Vets were remembered.)

This reunion was definately a team effort Amy Lussier, Allison Reese, Dawn Saxton, Dedra Woodward, Eric Raarup (Website), Jeff Carlson, Kevra Andreason, Maria Wallerius, Patty Hegre, Ted Shogren.  I think of when we started the database of contacts kind of like that commerical by Faberiege shampoo," you tell two friends and they told two friends and so on... "  I want to thank personally everyone I hounded on classmates.com to get the word out.

My understanding we will keep this site for at least a year, hopefully indefinately.  Please encourage others it will be nice to know we found everyone it will make the next reunion easier.

Would there be any interest in an informal gathering at the Hopkins High Homecoming, with going to a bar afterwards? (It was a good idea of Mike's)  It would be great to get a tour of the school, I understand it is hard to go in and look around.

Also any interest next summer to meet somewhere locally and informal in lieu of waiting until our 25th?

I need to plug my part time job anyone who would like to volunteer usher at the Orpheum, State, and Pantages theatre let me know and I can get you set up.  I am personally looking forward to the Broadway Show Wicked.

I been to View, the restaurant on the first floor of CBC and the dress runs from smart casual to a bit more dressed,  but if you wear a pair of nicer jeans or khaki pants with a polo type shirt or a button down, you will be just fine.  Many of the girls are wearing casual dresses or skirts, also just as many are wearing pants, cropped or long, as well.  Hopefully those girls will wear tops, too.  Well, some of us hope that... :)
I kind of think of the dress as being like the type of clothes you might find at a Banana republic store, or somewhere like that. I know, too much info, but I hope it helps.

Also keep in mind our leader and King, Jim Sexton, (King is a lifetime post by the way) is performing a one-off reunion show with his former band - THE SANDWICHES - at the 400 bar Friday night. Do what you want before 10:30 - 11pm but then it's the 400.

Unfortunately Jim has proclaimed your attendance mandatory so some of us will need to adjust our schedules. He drums, he sings and does a bit of acting too. The D'wiches final show and YOU will be a part of it. ALL HAIL KING SEXTON (and such and whatnot).

I think Rick Marker gets first prize for creative picture he had a photo with a bald head.  Second goes to Stu Lindberg.  Third prize to Dan Trockman for the photo of the guy from Mad Magazine.

Erik Kvalseth gets first prize for his creative prose what he's been up to snaps regarding  memory loss.  Brian Wilson for occupation you will have to check it out yourself what a hoot.

Grand prize to Amy Chapman for picking out a photo that most resembles 1980's look.

It has been fun watching this website expand it was around nine pages in early May.  Please encourage others you know to post if they are not web shy.

Hi, Everyone!  I looked at last year's reunion website (for class of '87) and it looks like they got a party bus for the night of the reunion.  Should we get a sign-up and see if there's interest?
Also,  Friday night pre-gathering (barn-burner, Ted)  would be a great way to convince people who might be on the fence about whether or not to come in town, as there would be more than one night of festivities...
Thanks to everyone who is working so hard to make this an amazing reunion!

What do you think about a round 2, and running for president again in 08?

hey... speaking of Chad, his entry says he will be home in June for a short visit. maybe a mini reunion with him if he can. I know classmates from 20 yrs ago are not on the priority list when home on leave though!
So Ted, where is this barn burner going down at? lol

Could Everyone PLEASE get the word out about this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The comitte will have to hunt down those who have not found "us" yet.  Need your help to send this web address to all 88´ alum. that you know.

Pictures seem to make the site more interesting and make us all the more curious abouth the reunion.

Everyone I´ve been working with on the commitee I knew verry little in H.S., yet we are having a total blast geting to know eacjh other again.  Its been amazing.  Muckh more interesting that we thought.
I think we ought to have a "Barn Burner" at some bar the friday before the reunion.  Who wants to do it?
Ted
p.s. would everyone please slap Chad Ault on the back when you can and say thanks.
